Lounge Bar Drama UPSIDE Down in Rajouri Garden
Food Review Drama Upside Down in Rajouri Garden
It is very difficult to live a life without drama, so why should we leave food behind? This is exactly the theme of a fairly new Lounge Bar in Rajouri Garden, New Delhi where we were invited for a food tasting and review. This new, superbly imaginative pub is predominantly a creative play of ideas all thrown in together and they call it DRAMA Upside Down.
Like the name, you will find literally everything possible that should be standing straight is hung from the roof upside down. From lamp shades to F1 car to glasses…everything you see is not kept normally but has been hung or placed to defy gravity! Mind numbingly cool.
Let the drama engulfs you completely, and you will be pleasantly surprised. This Lounge bar does not end on just one floor, it continues to surprise you on all the four floors! If you are a music lover, there is one floor especially for you.
The Lounge bar has one floor dedicated to fine dining. Here you can enjoy a peaceful meal with friends and family. I thought the menu had some interesting items on it.
While I give full marks to the decor this Lounge bar and the names of the dishes are a definite conversation starter. In the appetizers you will find – Paneer deliciously cooked and marinated served inside an interesting cage as they call it Kurkure Tandoori Paneer, Chin Chin Chicken – a colourfully presented chicken dish that tasted good, absolute mood spoiler was Pinjra Chusa Chicken 65g (didn’t like the name at all), Faadu fish fry was a honey-chili fish ..a must try item, Masi da message – Dramatic chicken wings, hot spicy bbq chicken cooked well named Agnipath Murgi and Tehri Chicken Boti. I totally loved the starters and their quirky presentation style.
After these delicious starters, I was literally upside down but was certainly looking forward to the entree which was just about right… maybe not as experimental as the rest of the Lounge bar though.
Father Dairy’s Makhani Champey – Soya chaap in creamy gravy..not bad, Dhakkan Murg Makkhan – a classic butter chicken..well done I must say with their Makkhani (Butter) Naan & last but not the least Nai Dilli Meat Curry- spicy meat curry …well flavoured and not chewy. Like a true Punjabi, I normally focus on starters…in this place would recommend you to do the same. Gorge on the starters with your drinks, and you can thank me later.
Did I mentioned Lounge bar, so lets talk about the bar part of things. The drinks menu had nice mocktails & cocktails. I stuck to the non alcoholic ones…had a long drive ahead! I kicked it off with a refreshing Orange Passion followed by Paan Mojito (for a change, I liked paan) & Green Dolphin (Aam panna & Khus khus based drink). I didn’t need the cocktails, the names on these beauties were enough to get someone tipsy.
It is boring to go to a cliched restaurant these days. So if you are in Rajouri Garden, and looking for something that genuinely experiential, give Drama Upside Down a go. Do visit this place for its decor, food and the experience.
For some awesome Rajasthani delicacies you must visit here.
